Jamie took a deep breath and squared his shoulders before approaching his father. “You wanted to see me?”

Everett looked up from his phone and scowled. “It’s about time. Where’ve you been?”

“None of your business.” Jamie leaned his hip against the table his father was seated at. “Did you think you could change my mind by browbeating me in person?”

Everett reached into the inside pocket of his suit. “The private detective I hired to follow you sent me these.” He withdrew a folded envelope. “It seems you’ve been busy.” He held it out toward Jamie.

Jamie stared at his father. “You’ve had me followed?”

“Of course,” Everett replied with no hint of apology in his tone. “I’m not sure why you find this so difficult to understand, but what you do has a direct effect on my business. Thus, you and your private life are, and always will be, my business.”

“Thus? Seriously? Who uses words like that?” Jamie snatched the envelope out of his father’s hand. “I can’t imagine what your private dick could’ve found since I’ve barely been off this property since I arrived.” He opened the envelope and withdrew a small stack of photos.

Pictures in hand, Jamie moved closer to one of the landscaping lights. There were two pictures of him and Daniel lounging beside the pool in their swimsuits, and four of him and Benny. One of the photos caught his attention, but not for the reason they were taken. It was a picture of him with Benny’s arm around him as they walked from the pottery shed to the house. Jamie’s love for Benny was right there for anyone to see. Damn. At the time, he hadn’t noticed the soft expression on Benny’s handsome face as he looked down at him. Benny could believe what he wanted, but the photo was proof that he had feelings for Jamie that didn’t have anything to do with casual sex.

“Can I keep these?” Jamie asked.

“Is that all you have to say?” Everett’s chest puffed out as he stalked toward Jamie. “Are you fucking those men?”

“Again, not that it’s any of your business, but Daniel is my landlord.” Jamie held up the picture with Daniel in it before flashing the one with Benny. “This is the man who is fucking me. What other details would you like? Do you want to know which positions I prefer or how big his cock is? I’ll share that information with you if you call off your private detective.”

“Don’t be disgusting!” Everett bellowed. “This is a very serious situation. It’s one thing for you to proclaim you’re gay, but to shove your deviant lifestyle into people’s faces is not acceptable for a son of mine.”

“Aaarghhh,” Jamie growled with his head tipped back. He couldn’t believe his father was so self-absorbed. “First of all, I’m not shoving anything in people’s faces.” He held up the photos. “These were taken on private property by a man you fucking hired! Secondly, I don’t need or care what you consider acceptable anymore.
